Q: Do you collect any PST or GST? A: No. I do NOT collect any taxes. Q: Do I have to pay duty or incured taxes when the item comes to my country? How much do I have to pay? A: The buyer is responsible for all duties and taxes. If the item is a gift, please specify so that we can fill out the custom document accordingly. Buyers can contact post office of their countries for duties and taxes details. We will try our best to lower these duties and taxes buyers have to pay. Q: How much approximately am I going to pay on taxes? A: A lot of customers asked if they will pay taxes or duty if they buy from us. The answer is yes and no. 1) First of all, we do not charge any taxes on all of our eBay listings. 2) You may be charged taxes when you receive your item, but 3) You will pay very little with our effort. How is this going to work? I will give an example for a typical Canadian living in Ontario to see how much he will pay for a C$500 item, say, Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AIS Nikkor MF lens. The duty and taxes regulations are like the following:
1) Duty = 0 (normally, there is no duty because of the WTO) 2) Taxes = 14% (Ontario's PST + GST) 3) If the item is a gift (we will declare it as a gift), so deduct C$60 from the total value and then calculate the tax.
e.g. You receive an item valued at C$500. a. Declaration: C$500, Commercial good. Taxes Payable: C$500 X 14% = C$70.
b. Declaration: C$500, Gift. Taxes Payable: (C$500 - C$60) X 14% = C$61.6
c. Now suppose when we ship item to you from Hongkong, but declare it as a gift and value of C$100. Declaration: C$100, Gift. Taxes Payable: (C$100 - C$60) X 14% = C$5.6
4) Issues: If shipped by Regular Air Parcel, the custom may stop the parcel and say, Hei, I don't believe the parcel is only worth C$100, prove to me. Then we have to send invoice of the item, sometimes, we do not offer fake invoice to custom. If you send them the real value, you have to pay full taxes on the item.
If shipped by EMS (EMS is monopolized by TNT courier in Canada.), the custom will believe the TNT invoice when we ship the item. So, no holding by the custom, but you pay 10% brokerage fee, but it's only 10% X C$100 = C$10. Generally speaking, although EMS/TNT shipping fee is more expensive and it involves brokerage fee, we highly recommend this shipping method.
You pay C$30 more, you receive it very fast (3-5 business days), with tracking ability, you do not deal with the custom.
This is how we ship the item to our customer around the world from Hongkong.
Q: What if the item I purchase and have paid is out of stock? A: We will refund the money you have paid by full amount. If you trust us, and want to wait for the item to be re-supplied. We will gradly hold your money and ship the item out as soon as we have them in-stock. During this period, the buyer can ask their money back at any time.
